Nine GLL Sport Foundation Athletes Selected for Skopje 2025 European Youth Olympic Festival

The GLL Sport Foundation (GSF) is proud to announce that nine of our supported athletes, past and present have been selected to represent Team GB and Team Ireland at the prestigious European Youth Olympic Festival (EYOF) in Skopje, North Macedonia, taking place from 20th to 26th July 2025.

This milestone highlights the Foundation’s ongoing commitment to supporting young talent across the UK and Ireland through direct financial awards, training support, and partnerships with local councils and leisure providers.
Representing Team GB:
  • Lexi Holmes (Artistic Gymnastics, Cardiff) 
  • Ishasriya Mekala (Badminton, Cardiff) 
  • Irene Oboavwoduo (Basketball, Manchester) 
  • Peggy Knox (Road Cycling, Lewisham) 
  • Finlay Storrie (Road Cycling, Bridgend) 
  • Max Cartwright (Taekwondo, Manchester GSF Alumni)
  • Fabio Carvalho (Taekwondo, Hammersmith & Fulham) 


Representing Team Ireland:
  • Ben Sykes (Athletics, Belfast) 
  • Peadar Sheridan (Table Tennis, Belfast) 
These athletes are among the UK and Ireland's most promising young sports stars and will compete across eight sports at the EYOF, which brings together over 4000 athletes from across Europe.



The GLL Sport Foundation, the UK’s largest independent athlete support programme, plays a key role in helping athletes at all levels pursue excellence in sport. The Foundation’s support allows these athletes to train, compete, and progress within their sporting journeys, many of whom aspire to future senior Olympic and Paralympic Games.
