Athlete in the Spotlight - Toby Aberdeen

GSF Newcastle athlete Toby Aberdeen - Shooting

Toby is the No.1 ranked junior in Britain, No.3 Senior, Junior World Cup Bronze medallist, holds 7 Junior British Records and a multiple medallist at the Nordic Championships – 2 gold, 2 bronze, 9 MCS (minimum consideration score) for major matches.

One of Toby's standout moments so far is "Being the first junior in over a decade to be selected to represent Great Britain at a major match in rapid fire"

Toby aspires to continue representing GB through junior and senior years and then go on to compete at the Olympic Games in LA2028 and beyond, aiming to bring home an Olympic medal in the subsequent games. Outside of shooting, he is in his first year of a sport and exercise science degree at University, with this he hopes to get a job working with athletes to help aid their performance.

"The support from GLL has been paramount to my performance this year, as a self-funded athlete it has allowed me to pay training and travel costs to major competitions, which tend to be very expensive, so this grant has enabled me to attend them, really helping me on my journey."

Toby's goals for the upcoming season include getting selected for and to compete at the Junior World and Junior European Championships, to keep increasing his scores to reach qualification standards for Senior events, and to compete at Senior World Cups.

We look forward to seeing Toby's progress!
